How many hours to study for IIT?

How many hours to study for IIT?

Today we are going to discuss a frequently asked question by IIT Aspirants. Every student wants to know the exact number of hours which they need for their Preparation; they ask their seniors, teachers and other IITians. There are so many myths about the time which really annoys a student.

There are myths which say, IIT Aspirants needed 18 to 12 hours of studies.

A student could be of many types some goes to school, some consider coaching classes more important and there are many who attend both school and coaching. A student who goes to School or coaching they spend 5 to 6 hours there, After that student has 18 hours in hand, in those 18 hours  they will sleep for 7 hours so, the time left for them is 11 hours, in these 11 hours, they will also take breaks approximately for 2 hours. So practically and approximately the overall time which they get for there studies is 9 hours. After this, we got the answer that the student who goes to school or coaching gets 9 hours for his studies.

Now, let’s see the time of a student who prefers both school and coaching. School times in most cases are from 7 to 2 or 7 to 1, after school they take rest before coaching. If we will count, these students’ spend 8 hours of their time in schooling and coaching, in the remaining 16 hours they sleep for 7 hours. So, therefore approximately this student will get 7 hours in a day for effective self-studying.

Through looking at both the scenarios we busted the myth of studying 18, 15 or 12-hour.

How to use time properly?

A student gets 11 hours to study but it is not always possible to study continuously, short breaks are always needed. So, practically if they will do hard work, they have to study for 9 to 10 hours, but the point is not how many hours you study the point is how much time you spend on effective studying.
let's assume A student studied for 10 hours, in those 10 hours he/she was completely distracted, he/she was not at all focused in that time frame, it means he/she learned very few things in that stretch.
Now take an example of a student who studied for 5 hours with concentration and focus, all the time which he/she spent was fruitful.

Don't cheat yourself and your parents by just spending time in front of a book. How much you learned is important not the time.

7 hours of study works but 9 to 10 hours is more effective for an IIT aspirant. In these 9 to 10 hours of self-study session, a student should set a time frame, They should not get up from their study-table for 1 and half hours or for two hours, in between this 2-hour sitting, take small breaks to keep the mind fresh.

All the best!
